About ABC
ABC Magazine was first published 28 years ago and is the longest established, best-read, free parenting magazine in the South publishing editions in both Sussex and Surrey. ABC aims to offer practical parenting advice to everyone with young children – from babies to big kids!
ABC was first published in Sussex in 1996, with the Surrey edition launching seven years later in 2003 – we now have a combined estimated readership of over 120,000 local parents each issue. The cornerstone of the publication is the balance between advertising and editorial, making it both entertaining and informative, packed with well-written interesting articles, great competitions and very useful local information. In each seasonal issue, we cover all manner of child-related topics from breastfeeding to school shoes, as well as family and adult lifestyle interests such as: health and beauty, homes and gardens and employment and finance.

Here at ABC, we understand the importance social media now plays to increase awareness of brands and because of this we now have our very own Social Media Manager – their role is purely to support you, as an advertiser, using social media.
How can we support you?
X, formerly known as Twitter – With eleven new accounts being created every second, X has fast become a great tool for small businesses to communicate directly with customers.
Facebook – 24 million Britons use Facebook every day and with each one on average liking 40 business pages it’s a vital addition to your marketing toolbox. However, Facebook are making it harder and harder for small businesses to get their message out there without paying for promotion and this is where we can help. *
Paper.Li – This is an automatically generated daily newspaper which we have subscribed to. It uses stories and information from our timeline along with our ‘ABC Friends X List’ to create a ‘daily’ paper, which is tweeted to our followers.
Social Media is exactly that, social!
Make sure you follow us on X and like us on Facebook.
* Please note if your using ‘a profile account’ for Facebook rather than ‘a business page’ we will not be able to share your content as Facebook will not allow ‘a business page’ to friend ‘a profile account’

Social Media tips for advertisers
As an advertiser we want to help you to take full advantage of the social media opportunities ABC can offer so below are
a few top tips for you to bear in mind:
• Make sure we know your Facebook page and/or X account details (some advertisers don’t have links on their websites so we don’t always know if you have them or not!)
• We will ‘like’ your Facebook page and ‘follow’ you on X, formerly known as Twitter – please do the same for us.
• We have just over 12,000 followers and friends on social media so we can remind them of your news and events regularly throughout the four month shelf-life of each magazine.
• On X we have an ‘ABC friends’ list which all advertisers are added to, so we can regularly post your news to our almost 9,500 followers.
• Remember, the more active you are on social media, the more content we have to re-post
• Please do email over any news or events that you want us to ‘shout about’ between our magazine publication dates – we can then promote this on Facebook and X for you. Please bear in mind that X only allows a maximum of 140 characters.
• Please help us to help you and remember to re-post whatever you can from our feeds.
Please email us, sussex@abcmag.co.uk or surrey@abcmag.co.uk, with any events or news which you want us to help you promote through social media.

ABC have won again!
We won the Twitter Purple Dog award for a third time and we also won the National Venus Awards title for Best Small Business and in 2020 we won the SME award for best Free Parenting Magazine of the Year!
That means that we’ve now won seven awards and been runner up in another.
I’m also really proud to say that we reached the finals, not once but twice, in The Brighton & Sussex Venus Awards sponsored by NatWest which were set up to recognize local business women.
As founder of ABC Magazines, Rachel won the ‘small business of the year’ category decided by NatWest and ‘runner up’ in the ’employer of the year’ category as well. Now we’ve won in the National final as well as being the regional winner!
